About Beate

Beate was born in 1964 in the beautiful city of Tromsø, but today she calls Tønsberg her home. Beate's artistic journey began at a young age, inspired by her father who painted beautiful oil paintings, and her mother who was a regular knitter for the household in Tromsø. She has always had a passion for drawing and painting, and through taking courses she has found an artistic community that continues to inspire her. Beate has taken undergraduate courses in art, form & color, as well as graphic design, and in parallel she has been involved in the health profession, where she has studied and worked with people. This combination has given her a unique perspective and enriched her artistic journey.

Beate is not limited to art alone; in addition to paintings, her creative fingers are also found in knitting designs and jewelry. Her patterns should be easy to understand, even if you are a beginner. All patterns can be downloaded immediately after purchase - ready to start!

Technically, you will most often find her in the world of acrylic paint, she loves to explore the boundaries by combining it with other media. Pastel/oil/charcoal - pencil, sand, tissue paper, mixed media, and even some photographic elements make up her palette of expressive forms.
At the intersection of the conscious and the random, a unique dynamic is created where the color composition is crucial.
The working methods range from large movements with large brushes, hands and tissue paper, combined with a focus on the smallest details where She uses the smallest brushes and a palette knife.

The paintings are at the crossroads between abstract and figurative art.
She explores themes such as light, atmospheres and moods, and draws inspiration from a variety of sources such as nature, emotions, colors, shapes, poetry and music. Her techniques and working methods are varied.
Just as her paintings take shape intuitively, she also uses techniques spontaneously to create a unique visual expression. Pastel, charcoal and oil pastels provide tactile depth, sand provides texture and feel, while mixed media allows her to play with contrasts and dimensions.

Beate's subject areas are as varied as nature itself. Sea, sky and dream landscapes are captured on canvas, and she also explores figurative considerations. Here she adds abstract elements that create a whole new world in itself. This dynamic shift between the concrete and the abstract gives her work a unique character and invites the viewer to explore different layers of narrative and emotion.

So, if you take a look at her artwork, you will discover a rich texture of colors, shapes and media that work together to create a visual symphony. She wants her works to be not only seen but also felt, and she hopes others find as much joy in exploring them as she has in creating them.

Beate's art is an invitation to explore colorful worlds and discover beauty in the intuitive.
